Artichokes with mediocre appearance are on the rise thanks to their usefulness in helping the digestive process and to increase the production of bile in the liver.
Sometimes mistakenly considered vegetables because of their shape, artichokes are actually shoots of flowering plants from the family of thistle plants. Don’t be fooled by its external appearance; because the sweet taste and various health benefits offset its less attractive appearance.
1. Burned artichokes
Peel the outer layer of the leaves and trim the edges. Add it to a pot filled with boiling water and leave for 10 minutes. Remove from the pan and chill, then split in two and remove the furry inside. Add seasonings to taste – olive oil, orange juice, garlic and celery leaves are the perfect ingredients for artichokes. Burn for 5 minutes and serve.
2. Grilled artichokes
Brush the artichokes with orange juice and olive oil. Insert the knife into the center to make a small hole and put the garlic in that section. Add salt to taste. Wrap with aluminum sheet and bake for 1 hour 20 minutes at 425 ° F / 220 ° C.
3. Mini artichokes
Peel the top layer of the leaves, then clean. Split in half and remove the hairy center part. Put it in a pan and pour it with boiling water. Let stand for 5 minutes then remove it. Add seasonings to taste and serve.
4. Steamed artichokes
Add the boiled water that has been given salt as deep as 3 centimeters in the pan, install the steam and let the water in the pan boil. Peel the artichokes, also the top and ends. Add it to the steamer, cover and leave for 20 minutes. The leaves can be easily peeled with a knife if the artichoke is cooked.
5. Artichoke contents
Peel the outside of the artichoke and clean it. Mix into ¾ cup of bread flour, 1/2 cup of Pecorino Romano cheese and 2 tablespoons of chopped celery leaves. Peel a small portion of the base of each artichoke leaf and put the bread mixture in the open section. Add the artichokes in a side position to each other in a large pan and add 3 cm of water. Cover the pan and let it boil, reduce the heat and leave for another 40 minutes. Serve.
